Carlos is a global commercial leader with 17 years of experience driving Sales and Downstream Marketing for Class III minimally invasive and surgical medical devices. Throughout his career, he has successfully navigated both the agile startup environment and the complex corporate matrix. Carlos has managed functional and regional high-performing teams with a proven record of capturing market share and driving revenue, maintained by a relentless, laser-focus on customer orientation. Chris is an enthusiastic, customer-centric global MedTech leader with a passion for translating
innovations to patients. He has a deep understanding of the European and US Ortho and Spine
markets and is a strong advocate for talent development and patient-centric technology innovation.
Chris began his career with Johnson & Johnson in 2002 in French-speaking Switzerland as a Sales
Consultant, and over the following years he has held several roles with increasing responsibility in
Switzerland, Germany and across Europe, Middle-East and Africa within Johnson&Johnson’s
orthopedic and neuro businesses. In 2018, he had the opportunity to move to the Boston area to lead
JnJ’s Spine business in the US.
In 2023, after more than 20 years with Johnson & Johnson, Chris took the role of Chief Commercial
Officer for Nyxoah to prepare the commercialization of a novel neuromodulation device for patients
with severe obstructive sleep apnea.
In beginning 2024, Chris joined icotec Medical Inc as their Chief Executive Officer. Icotec Medical is
a highly innovative medical device company that manufactures and commercializes unique carbon
fiber PEEK implants for patients with complex conditions in the Spine, primarily tumors and
infections. Icotec is growing quickly and is investing heavily in clinical evidence, manufacturing
capabilities and its commercial footprint.
Chris holds a master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology from the Swiss Federal
Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland and studied at the Royal Institute of Technology in
Stockholm, Sweden. He has served in the Swiss Army to the level of Captain in the NBC defense
Troops.
Chris currently lives in the Boston, MA area, with his wife and three children. He enjoys skiing, sailing
and any type of mountain activity. He is perfectly fluent in German, French and English.
