Desktop Factory – Japanese Precision Manufacturers from the SUWA District, Nagano Prefecture

Desktop Factory (DTF) is a collective of precision manufacturers from the SUWA district of Japan (home of the Seiko Watch Corporation) that develop and manufacture applications and instruments that are small enough to fit on a desktop. Delegation members include companies that produce miniature nickel-plating systems; mobile injection machinery; micro lathing and hole drilling machines; and a wireless power supply communication system.(see company profiles below.)

DTF delegates will brief MassMEDIC members on their capabilities and promote business opportunities and DTF technologies to medical device companies in our region. Attendees will have an opportunity to network with representatives of these companies and learn more about their manufacturing breakthroughs.

MedTech Investors Conference

MassMEDIC will host its 12th annual Medtech Investors Conference on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the Campus Center at the University of Massachusetts Boston. The day-long program will feature presentations by 16 regionally-based medical device companies, as well an overview of investment trends in Medtech and summary of the state of Medtech innovation. Open Innovations – Global Strategies in R&D Collaborations

American-German Event for the Medical Device und Medical Biotechnology Industry

On November 4th and 5th, Germany Trade & Invest will host a networking event under an "Open Innovation - Global Strategies in R&D" banner at the Conference Center at Waltham Woods. The program is supported by partners including MassMedic, MassBio, the Massachusetts Life Science Center, and the Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment (MOITI).

A mixed panel of successful companies from the Massachusetts and German Medical Device and Biotech Industry will present and discuss individual innovation strategies and their experience in efficient international collaboration. A delegation from German industry and science will be available for partnering and giving insight to the market opportunities of Germany and Europe.

The purpose of the event is to allow representatives of companies and institutes from Massachusetts and Germany to meet personally with potential business partners in the respective innovative biotech and medical technology clusters. Massachusetts’ companies will also be supported by identifying potential strategic partners in Germany in order to gain access to the German market and to participate in the innovation power of German industry and science.

The event provides all participants with the opportunity to exchange information with local partners from the Boston/Massachusetts region and Germany, meet with potential business partners, and establish new contacts.
