Advocacy

Medtech is a federally regulated industry, which means changes in public policy can have a profound and immediate impact on your company. We are champions of the medtech industry, advocating at the state and federal levels to ensure policies protect and support our region’s medtech sector.

For more than 25 years we have worked to develop close relationships with our congressional delegation and state leaders to make sure they understand our industry and its needs. This approach has helped our industry weather many difficult moments. During the COVID-19 crisis, for example, MassMEDIC helped ensure that medtech workers were deemed essential throughout the state lockdowns. We also were able to make sure our manufacturing workers got priority access to vaccination. In addition, we played an integral role in repealing the 2.3% medical device excise tax, tamping down the onerous Massachusetts gift ban, and helped lead the way to a more predictable FDA.

As a MassMEDIC member, you are part of a unified industry voice and your issues and priorities are paramount to our discussions with legislators.

You also have access to medtech industry issue tracking and awareness creation, through events like our Town Halls and advocacy publications.
