OCTANe and MassMEDIC to Showcase Area Start-Ups to Regional Investors
Initiative will boost awareness and increase investment for qualified early-stage medtech companies
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – OCTANe, Orange County’s life science and technology accelerator organization, and MassMEDIC, a regional medical device cluster group, today announced that they have an initiated a strategic program to build greater awareness of emerging medtech companies among investors in both Orange County and Boston.
The initiative will provide leading and viable start-up companies based in Orange County with introductions to interested venture capital firms, angel networks, family foundations, and strategic funders. Initially, OCTANe and MassMEDIC will share business plan summaries with active medtech investors located in Orange County and Boston. Future projects will focus on remote investor presentations, facilitated delegation visits and participation in the respective organizations’ annual investors conference.

California and Massachusetts boast vibrant medical device clusters, employing thousands of highly skilled workers, who develop and produce some of the most innovative medical products available in the global health care marketplace. Both regions are among the leading medical technology states and are home to key elements of medtech development: investment capital; skilled workers; and world-class medical research.

Sommer, president of MassMEDIC. “Investors in both regions will learn more about the exciting new medical technologies being developed in our clusters, which will accelerate the growth of these innovative, job-producing companies,” Sommer added.
The Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council (MassMEDIC) was formed in 1996 by industry executives to promote the unique interests of the Bay State’s growing and vibrant medical device sector. With nearly 400 members, MassMEDIC sponsors a variety of informational seminars and conferences, providing a meeting place for medical device manufacturers, service suppliers and medical researchers to exchange ideas and information on industry trends and best practices.
