MassMEDIC Webinar: What’s an IC-DISC and How Can it Save Your MedTech Company Tax Dollars?

MassMEDIC joins with Clarke, Snow & Riley in presenting this free webinar for MassMEDIC members and friends. 

Does your company export U.S. produced goods? Do distributors or downstream manufacturers export your company’s U.S. produced goods? If the answer to either of these questions is yes, you could be enjoying sustainable year-to-year, permanent tax savings on export sales by taking advantage of an IC-DISC. 

The IC-DISC (Interest Charge Domestic International Sales Corporation) is an under-utilized tax benefit enacted by Congress, and fully approved by the IRS, that aims to increase U.S. exports by providing substantial tax savings on export-sales income. The tax savings are permanent and recur annually. 

The IC-DISC does not have any substantive impact on the operations of the export company; it is not required to hire employees, have operations, hold inventory or other assets or perform any specific functions. Qualified businesses include: manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, software developers, timber, mining, agricultural and seafood companies, and, in certain cases, architecture and engineering firms. Distributors and producers alike can claim an IC-DISC benefit on the same export products. 

The IC-DISC is a unique way to help your business add to the bottom line and increase cash flow. This webinar will provide a brief background on the IC-DISC, along with guidance on its implementation, enabling you to determine whether the IC-DISC will benefit your business.

MassMEDIC Webinar: The Business Case for Patenting Mobile Medical Apps and other Medical Device Software – Followed by 30 Minutes of IP Attorney – Ask Me Anything (AMA)

MassMEDIC Joins Wolf Greenfield in presenting: 

Jason Honeyman and Ed Walsh from Wolf Greenfield will describe best practices for patenting smartphone apps and other software specific to the medical device space. They will provide a real-time read of the U.S. Patent Office’s posture on patenting software/apps, and will highlight tactics for increasing your prospects of obtaining meaningful patent rights. 

Following this presentation, attendees are encouraged to pose their IP-related questions to Jason and Ed.

FDA Update

December 11, 2014, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Mass. Medical Society in Waltham 

At this year’s FDA Update, held in conjunction with the local chapter of RAPS and the ASQ’s New England Biomedical Discussion Group, CDRH Deputy Director for Science Dr. Bill Maisel will be the kick-off speaker and will provide a re-cap of the Center’s activity in the past year and a look ahead to the coming year in regulatory matters. Dr. Maisel is a cardiologist and the former director of the Medical Device Safety Institute at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
