12th Annual Conference Set for May 6th
Mass. Governor Patrick, BD’s Ed Ludwig & Larry Lucchino Headline Meeting Agenda MassMEDIC’s 12th annual conference will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 8:00 – 11:45 a.m. at the John F. Kennedy Library & Museum in Boston. This year’s agenda offers something for everyone – public policy, executive leadership, business development, workforce training & baseball! Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick will open the meeting, discussing his $1 billion, 10-year commitment to the life sciences industry in Massachusetts. Ed Ludwig, President, Chairman and CEO of BD, will review his experience in leading one of the world’s leading medtech companies and how successful companies can “do good while doing well.” Our agenda will also feature presentations on one of the most significant business development stories in our industry in the past year as well as the workforce challenges facing the Massachusetts medical device sector. Amy Wendell, Sr. Vice President, Business Development at Covidien, will tell the story of how her company spun out of Tyco Healthcare to become one of the largest medical device companies in Massachusetts. We’ll also hear from Dr. Lynn Griesemer, executive director of the Donahue Institute at UMass, who will report on findings of a recent assessment of the workforce needs of the Massachusetts medical device industry. And we wrap-up our morning meeting with Larry Lucchino, President and CEO of the World Series Champion Boston Red Sox.
