Property Update: Maximizing Protection in the Changing Patent Landscape
Thursday, March 6 8:00 – 10:30 a.m. Massachusetts Medical Society Waltham, Mass. The winds of change are sweeping over the patent landscape, and medical device companies must adapt to strategically protect intellectual property assets. The past year has seen the U.S. Supreme Court issuing far-reaching opinions impacting patenting and licensing practices, Congress proposing patent reform legislation to overhaul the patent system, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) trying to enact major patent rule changes to address the ongoing problems of patent pendency and patent quality. Amid this changing patent landscape, medical device companies are trying develop patent portfolios to attract venture capital investment and maximize return on investment by licensing their patents in other fields. This seminar will review the changes in patent law now being considered and offer attendees strategic options for maximizing their intellectual property portfolio. Directions
