MassMEDIC Testifies on Patient Consent for Single Use Devices on Beacon Hill





MassMEDIC testified in support of legislation that would require patients in Massachusetts to provide their consent if reprocessed single-use devices were to be used in their surgical procedure.

The Joint Committee on Public Health heard testimony on the on September 26th , and MassMEDIC representatives provided their perspectives on why the bill should be enacted. Nigel Wilkinson of Smith and Nephew Endoscopy and Doug Lawrence of BD Ophthalmic Division joined MassMEDIC President, Tom Sommer, in supporting the bill. A copy of Sommer’s testimony may be

The bill will now be considered by the full Public Health Committee in the coming weeks, before action is recommended.
