Bedford, Massachusetts-based MicroCHIPS recently received
$13.4 million in funding from Novartis Venture Fund and CSK Venture Capital
of Japan. The two organizations’ investment will help support MicroCHIPS’
development of implantable biosensing and drug delivery devices designed
to improve therapeutic control and reduce painful interventions for diabetes
and osteoporosis patients…Myomo’s robotic
therapy device is featured in the April edition of the American Journal
of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Results of a pilot study
held at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Program demonstrated a statistically
significant and clinically relevant improvement in upper arm function
with using the technology…Boston Scientific recently
announced Japanese regulatory approval for its Vitality DR implantable
cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). According to the company, the Vitality
system is the smallest dual chamber ICD available in Japan.
