Two Major Surveys Seek MassMEDIC Members’ Perspectives

MassMEDIC has been asked to participate in two survey projects, aimed at gauging the competitiveness of the life sciences industry cluster in Massachusetts and measuring manufacturing activity here.

The Massachusetts Life Sciences Collaborative, a consortium of industry, academic and hospital sectors, is conducting a survey designed to identify and assess regional assets and issues to generate widespread consensus behind a strategy for the life sciences “super cluster” in Massachusetts. Data collection and survey analysis will be undertaken by The Monitor Group of Cambridge.

All MassMEDIC members will be encouraged, via a separate e-mail communication, to participate in this important project. To complete the survey, please click here.

Northeastern University economist Barry Bluestone is reviewing the climate for manufacturing in the Bay State. Professor Bluestone is examining manufacturing strategies, across all industries, and why some companies are choosing to expand or reduce manufacturing capacity here. MassMEDIC OEMs and contract manufacturers will receive a questionnaire by mail in the coming weeks.

Both projects will complement MassMEDIC’s on-going examination of Massachusetts’ medical device cluster. A report on recent trends and indicators is currently being prepared by researchers at the Donahue Institute at the University of Massachusetts for release at our May 1st annual meeting.
