Boston
University Seminar on Emerging Technologies in Biomaterials
On October 20, Boston University’s Department of Manufacturing Engineering will host an emerging technology seminar focused on the discovery, development and characterization of biomaterials. In particular, speakers at this seminar will address current challenges and advances in biocompatibility; sensor design; tissue engineering; drug delivery; and micro fluidic diagnostics. Topics discussed will include: • What new biomaterials are needed to enable the mass distribution of disposable diagnostics? • How will technologies now in the laboratory be translated to the bedside? • Will clinical laboratories be replaced by handheld detection devices carried by care providers? Among the confirmed speakers for this are: Dr. Jeffrey T. Borenstein, Director of the Biomedical Engineering Center and Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff, Draper Laboratory; Professor Scott Manalis, MIT Media Laboratory; and Dr. Frederick J. Schoen, Harvard Medical School, Professor of Pathology and Health Sciences and Technology. For more details about this program, please click here.
