Action
on State Reuse Bill Delayed in Healthcare Financing Committee
Efforts to pass a bill (S. 2433) that would require patients to approve
the use of reprocessed single-use devices in their medical procedures
have been stalled in the State Legislature’s Healthcare Financing
Committee. The bill, which had been favorably reported by the Public Health
Committee in March, will be the subject of a special informational forum
for legislators on June 27th at the State House. Further action on S.2433
will likely follow the informational forum.
In May, the bill’s provisions were included in the Senate’s
version of the FY’07 state budget. However, an amendment, sponsored
by Sen. Richard Moore, to remove this provision from the Senate’s
budget proposal was approved.
