MassMEDIC Convening Group to Review and Report on Proposed IPPS Rule Friday, May 19 Recently, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released its 2007 Proposed Inpatient Payment Rates. This is first the first significant revision of the Inpatient Prospective Payment System since its implementation in 1983. CMS reimbursement is shifting in two important ways: • To be based on Hospital Cost, not Hospital Charges • To expand the range of payments to better account for patient severity Public comments on the proposed rule are being accepted until June 12, 2006. In advance of that deadline, MassMEDIC is inviting interested members to participate in a focus group to review the proposed rule and provide commentary to CMS. The Reimbursement Focus Group will meet from 8:00–9:30 a.m. on
