Fall Program Calendar:

MassMEDIC’s fall calendar of events kicks off with a program on product lifecycle management (PLM) on Friday September 16 at the Mass. Medical Society in Waltham. The agenda includes presentations on design for manufacturability and several corporate case studies on successful PLM strategies. MassMEDIC will hold its fourth Boot Camp for MedTech Entrepreneurs on Tuesday, October 18 at the Mass. Medical Society. The half-day program provides early-stage executives and would-be entrepreneurs with information on a variety of issues critical to company development: angel financing; the due diligence process; IP protection; team building; compensation strategies; product development; regulatory and reimbursement affairs; and market assessment.

MassMEDIC’s annual Investors Conference features the “extended elevator pitches” of 25 pre-venture, early stage and emerging medical device companies. Come and learn more about the many promising technologies being developed by these start-up companies from around the region.
The opening plenary session will be highlighted by a report on acquisition trends in the medtech industry by John Westwood of LEK Consulting and a discussion by a panel of financing experts. The conference luncheon will feature the presentation of the first Nixon Peabody/Smith & Nephew Medical Device Innovation Award, celebrating Massachusetts’ contributions to innovative advancements in medical devices. MassMEDIC’s annual end-of-the-year wrap-up of FDA issues is scheduled for Friday morning, December 9, at the Mass. Medical Society. Donna Bea Tillman, director of FDA’s Office of Device Evaluation; John Marzilli, Deputy Associate Commissioner for Regional Affairs; Gail Costello, District Director; and Paul Kim of Foley Hoag LLP and former Healthcare Committee staffer for Senator Edward Kennedy will participate as presenters. Among the topics to be addressed in this forum, agency trends in post-market surveillance will be highlighted.
