Environmental News – DEP Regs/European Directives
The Mass. Department of Environmental Protection
has proposed regulations to streamline environmental requirements
for Massachusetts medical device and biotechnology facilities.
The regulations provide medical device and biotechnology companies
with exemptions from certain industrial wastewater, air pollution
and hazardous waste rules. A copy of MassMEDIC’s letter
to the Department of Environmental Protection may be found by

… Innovative Spinal Technologies, a start-up
company spun out of the Texas Back Institute, will relocate its
operations to Massachusetts, according to recent news releases.
The company, currently in the process of selecting its base of
operations, plans hire 40-50 employees by the end of the year.
Commenting on his selection of Massachusetts, the company’s
CEO, Scott Schorer said "We looked at Minneapolis
and Silicon Valley but chose Boston because of the people. The
universities produce a lot of engineers, and the market also has
ancillary businesses that develop professionals that do similar
work as we do.” …. MassMEDIC’s booth
location at MEDICA 2005 has been finalized –
Hall 14 D17. If you or your company representatives are schedule
to attend this year’s show, November 16-19 in Dusseldorf,
please make plans to drop by the MassMEDIC exhibit area. A reception
for Massachusetts companies will be held on the evening of November
17th. Please check next month’s MassMEDIC Notes
for further details.
