Environmental Affairs Office to Conduct Seminar –
The Business Case for Design for the Environment for Medical Device Manufacturers – June 21, 2005 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Executive Office of Environmental Affairs 100 Cambridge Street Boston, MA 2nd Floor, Conference Room B Co-sponsored by MassMEDIC, Associated Industries of Massachusetts, Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, Executive Office of Environmental Affairs and the Office of Technical Assistance. This half-day workshop convened by Environmental Affair’s Secretary Roy Herzfelder is designed to assist business leaders and product development team members to understand emerging environmental issues, identify key risks and opportunities, and learn about leading corporate practices in the medical device sector. The program will feature a 45-minute Executive Session at 8:30 a.m., led by Dr. Patrick Eagan, a leading Design for the Environment (DfE) professor and consultant. He will highlight examples from companies, such as Medtronics and Johnson & Johnson, with whom he has worked. Following the Executive Session, Dr. Eagan and other speakers will provide more technical information regarding the use of DfE tools, drivers for DfE (such as emerging European Union Environmental Directives and health care purchasing screens), regulatory issues and case studies.
