MassMEDIC Notes

As you’ve probably noticed, MassMEDIC has initiated a monthly electronic newsletter to enhance communications with members. In addition, MassMEDIC will no longer be sending paper invitations by mail for morning informational seminars. Look for individual meeting announcements to arrive by e-mail in the weeks prior to each event with on-line registration available. For a full listing of MassMEDIC programs and events planned for this winter and spring, please see our website under

This year, MassMEDIC will also establish an annual award program for innovation in medical device technology. Awards will be presented to an established medical device company and an early-stage medtech company. Information on program guidelines and submission criteria will be sent to all MassMEDIC members later this spring. A panel of industry experts will consider submissions this summer and awards will be presented at an evening reception this fall.

HR Forum – Several MassMEDIC members have expressed an interest in forming an informal group of HR professionals and executives from member companies and firms. As envisioned, the HR Forum would provide members to attend smaller, more focused morning sessions to examine a wide range of issues impacting HR operations at medtech companies, including recruiting strategies, training needs and changing HR policies. Interested? Please send contact information to Laura Allen at: allen@massmedic.com, and look for an announcement of the group’s first meeting.

Survey of Product Life-Cycle Managment (PLM) Practices in the MedTech Industry - Member Reponse Requested

In advance of our April 15 conference, "Product Life-Cycle Management: How Can MedTech Companies Benefit From Its Supply Chain Potential?", MassMEDIC will distribute a survey to the membership to assess the current state of PLM adoption in the New England medtech industry. Members will be queried on their practices in different supply chain-related PLM areas including Requirements Management, Design Excellence, Product Data and Configuration Management, Supplier and Component Management, Change Management, and PLM Applications.

The results of the survey, comparisons with best practices, and their implications for MassMEDIC members will be analyzed and presented by the management consulting firm PRTM at the April 15 session. Further details and an invitation to participate in the survey will be sent in the next few days.
