MassMEDIC Notes

2004 marked the re-invigoration of the MassMEDIC Special Interest Groups, a series of interactive forums where attendees share ideas and strategies with colleagues from a variety of industry sectors. These groups meet on a quarterly basis and currently include the Clinical Trials Task Force, the Emerging Company Forum and the R&D Forum. The Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology (CIMIT) recently announced its Medical Access Program (MAP), a new initiative dedicated to designing medical technologies that will improve the quality and availability of care for underserved patient populations around the world. Of particular focus will be technological projects serving the needs of remote medical rescue teams, disaster and emergency care providers, refugee medical clinics, and international women’s healthcare centers.

CIMIT invites MassMEDIC members to become involved with the MAP by sponsoring a project, contributing IP or volunteering expertise. Through its network of global health care providers, CIMIT is also offering companies the opportunity to test current or planned products for adaptation in challenging environments.

Members may contact the MAP through the CIMIT website (www.cimit.org/map) or by contacting Dr. Jonathan Rosen, Director, at jjrosen@partners.org.
