Job Title: Manufacturing Supervisor Department: Manufacturing
Reports to: Operations
Manager Approved: March 2010
BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising the company’s production
operations including but not limited to assembly, molding, production
job-related and safety training, equipment setup and preventative
maintenance. Ensures production, delivery and quality
standards are achieved for high customer satisfaction. Recommends and implements manufacturing
processes, systems and procedures that increase efficiencies and/or improve
quality.
PRINCIPLE
DUTIES
Supervises hourly production
staff to ensure timely production and delivery of high quality products.
Prioritizes production based
on customer needs, capacity, equipment efficiency, inventory supply and
engineering requests. Interfaces with
group leaders, operators, engineers and other personnel to troubleshoot and
resolve manufacturing process delays and issues that impact quality, schedule
or delivery. Refers issues that cannot
be resolved to the Operations Manager for further review and resolution.
Oversees and coordinates employee
production training requirements to ensure employees are properly trained,
certified and following required company standards and guidelines. Oversees daily training activities and
schedules and maintains training records and documentation to ensure they are accurate
and up-to-date.
Develops presentations and conducts
safety training in accordance with federal, state and company safety
requirements. Participates in internal
safety audits, updates MSDS and investigates safety issues and accidents to
help determine root cause and the corrective action.
Ensures the production floor
is presentable and in compliance with company standards and expectation for
cleanliness. Ensures work stations are
clean at the end of each shift, conducts audits to verify the cleanliness of
the production area and recommends changes that improve floor cleanliness.
Writes, revises and updates
Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) as they pertain to manufacturing procedures
and standard operating procedures.
Reviews and maintains
accuracy of production bills of material and routings.
Creates, reviews and
analyzes production reports and data to ensure yield efficiencies, on-time
delivery, quality and other production standards being achieved. Identifies issues and trends and makes
recommendations to improve manufacturing processes, systems, procedures and standards.
Attends production meetings,
reports findings and issues to the organization and develops and presents
production-related information to ensure management is kept abreast on the
status of production activities.
Works closely with engineering
to support R & D initiatives.
Identifies, supports and participates in continuous improvement
activities including the measurement of effectiveness of cost improvement
programs.
Responsible for effective supervision
of all employees including: policies and
procedures, recordkeeping and attendance, hiring and firing recommendations, employee
engagement and teamwork, annual performance assessment, and training and
development.
Implements effective
communication tools for the production floor to support two-way communication
of information (department meetings, teamwork processing, posting of metrics,
etc).
Resolves employee relations
matters, partnering with Human Resources, as needed.

assigned
MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Associates
degree or the equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 5-7
years related experience in the medical device or related industry, including
2-3 years experience in a supervisory role.
SPECIAL
SKILLS: Knowledge of manufacturing practices
and principles, manufacturing automated systems (ERP), proficient in pc
applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc), lean manufacturing, strong
verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, organization and
attention-to-detail, conflict management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to lift
up to 20 lbs; sit, stand, bend and stoop; good visual acuity and capable of
fine motor skills
