Research Associate

Job Summary:

Responsible for assisting in all pre-clinical scientific research and/or development strategies through the development staff or individual studies which are critical. Plans and executes laboratory research and development projects in conjunction with and supervised by a Scientist. Investigate the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential products and problems.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Implementing and documenting experiments for design validation.

2. Completion of various SOPs, reports, and protocols for the Development department to fulfill cGMP/ISO certification.

3. Maintain accurate notebooks and complete documentation of all experiments.

4. Perform work in a timely and organized fashion.

5. Must be able to develop project timeline and manage project completion within those timelines.

6. Develop and support an atmosphere for a teamwork environment and professional conduct.

7. Develop methods of measurement to allow for the objective benchmarking improving quality of product design and development timelines.

8. Complete all necessary training programs to maintain certification which are required for working on Development projects.

Qualifications:

• Strong software/PC skills (Word, Excel, Microsoft Project)
• Good organization skills
• Strong written and communication skills
• B.S. or M.S. degree in molecular biology or microbiology or biochemistry. 1-2 years industry experience preferred
• Broad familiarity with state-of-the-art assay technologies, including nucleic acid extraction, nucleic acid amplification and protein and nucleic acid detection technologies
• Specific experience in real-time PCR preferred
• Research or experience as a technologist in a clinical laboratory setting preferred
