Senior Design Engineer – Mechanical

You will work as the lead design engineer to take responsibility for, and participate in, the complete development cycle for Medical Products, from preparing specifications and designing the architectures right through to approval for volume production.

Position Responsibilities 

·         Lead and develop Cambridge Consultants’ mechanical design function in the USA, including the following specific areas of competence:

-       Generation of design concepts

-       Production of detailed design documentation using 3D CAD tools (experience of using pro/ENGINEER and/or SolidWorks)

-       Design tolerance and sensitivity analysis

-       Mechanical stress analysis (including FEA)

-       Strong manufacturing knowledge including the design of plastic mouldings (including tooling optimisation) and metal forming techniques

-       Design for manufacture including automated assembly for high volume production

·         Create and develop new services and, where appropriate, intellectual property to support Cambridge Consultants’ product development activities

·         Support the Business Leaders in sales meetings with prospective clients, planning and estimating product design and development projects, preparing project proposals

·         Interact with teams within Cambridge Consultants broad technical base in the USA and Europe which includes mechanical engineering, product design, software, electronics, informatics, regulatory affairs, life sciences, manufacturing technology and process automation.

Position Qualifications 

·         Experience in multi-disciplinary projects (software, electronics, mechanics, and chemistry),

·         Working knowledge and experience of the regulatory environment in the USA and EU

·         Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

·         Travel required up to 30% (including international travel)

·         Minimum of five years industrial experience working in technology or product design and development for a medical products company

·         Bachelor’s degree in engineering or in physical sciences required

·         Master’s degree in a related field, a plus

·         Permanent residency or US citizenship required
