Process Engineer (Cambridge moving to Waltham the Fall of 2008)

 

Our client is a leader in the design and production of patient-specific medical devices for the dental market.  Due to growth, they are expanding and are seeking a Process Engineer to join the team.  This is a great opportunity if you are seeking to join a highly innovative and financially solid industry leader that promises career growth and challenging work!

 

Responsibilities

 

The Process Engineer will be responsible for implementing and improving processes in support of new product development.  Detailed responsibilities include: 1) selection and installation of processing and quality control equipment; 2) training, development, and implementation of process controls and 3) process troubleshooting.

 

Requirements

 

Skills:

§         Mechanically inclined with hands-on ability.

§         General knowledge of processing equipment and controls including those used for pressing, green machining (CNC milling), firing (kiln operation), and quality control.

§         Skills associated with software program development for automated inspection and measurement equipment.

§         Ability to interpret and apply technical theories, concepts and techniques.

  • Ability create databases to analyze complex data sets.
  • Ability to set up and optimize processes and troubleshoot process and equipment problems.
  • Ability to document processes and train operators.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Cooperative attitude and ability to work in a time critical production environment.
  • Self-starter, creative, and willing to roll up sleeves and get things done with a strong sense of ownership.

 

Experience:

  • At least five years of processing experience in an industrial environment.

§         Experience with databases for tracking manufacturing quality and productivity.

  • Experience in process engineering and optimization in high-volume product lines.
  • Operation and maintenance of a wide range of computer-controlled quality control instruments.

 

Education:

§         B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering.

 

Desired Skills, Experience or Education:

§         Experience in precision machining and quality control of small parts.

§         Experience with GMP, SPC, 6 Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing concepts is desirable.
