BioSphere Medical, Inc. (NASDAQ: BSMD), a medical device company that has pioneered the use of bioengineered microspheres to treat uterine fibroids, hypervascularized tumors and vascular malformations is looking for a Multi-Cultural Coordinator.

Position Overview:

Responsible for coordinating ethnically diverse field marketing strategies, program development, and implementation for $25million medical device company dedicated to informing patients and physicians about alternatives to hysterectomy for treatment of uterine fibroids.  Uterine fibroids afflict approximately 5 million women annually in the
United States, typically in the 35-55 year age range.  This pathology more commonly afflicts African American women than women of other ethnic demographics.  The Multi-Cultural Coordinator will act as the primary liaison between Director of Marketing at the corporate office and Territory Managers in the field who conduct local marketing outreach campaigns in their regions. The Multi-Cultural Coordinator will work directly with Territory Managers to identify appropriate marketing plans and programs focused on reaching women of all ethnicities to educate them about fibroids and their treatment options.  From the list of appropriate plans and programs, the Multi-Cultural Coordinator will focus on faith-based organizations and other similar community groups to identify ways to deliver BioSphere’s messaging to potential patients.  Travel will be required to participate in the conduct of these outreach initiatives.  The Multi-Cultural Coordinator will work closely with BioSphere Medical vendors (call center, website, PR firm) to reinforce messaging and develop initiatives within budget.   The Multi-Cultural Coordinator will also establish communication plans to inform and educate physicians on key marketing initiatives and best practices nationwide.

Responsibilities:

·          Direct and manage the development of ethnically diverse marketing programs and promotions to potential fibroid patients to drive revenue growth as well as product and procedure awareness/adoption for our 24 territories.  Lead development and execution of multi-cultural special events and local market programs.  Build market appropriate plans to facilitate stakeholders’ achievement of goals and objectives.  Maintain a 6-month forward-looking plan for all programs.  With manager (Director of Marketing), develop and refine appropriate metrics to assess programs.

·          Direct and coordinate the execution of multi-cultural outreach events.  Train and educate Territory Managers on effective multi-cultural program planning. Build strong relationships with Territory Managers and key physicians (both primary and referral) and influencers (i.e. key leaders of ethnic groups; practice management consultants; healthcare economists).  Develop/enhance processes to provide consultative support to Interventional Radiologist and referring physicians who choose to collaborate formally on patient care.  Direct and coordinate physician-delivered content.

·          Work in partnership with sales, marketing, and clinical teams to identify opportunity growth markets; develop plans to help achieve sales growth and new territory. Represent multi-cultural perspective to key internal groups including Senior Management.  Identify top faith-based organizations for BioSphere to approach in order to deliver UFE-oriented messaging.

Qualifications:

·          Must show clear evidence of knowledge of diverse ethnicities, the organizations that support them, and an ability to turn that knowledge into effective outreach programs.

·          Must show ability to collaborate with diverse types of outside organizations (i.e. faith- or ethnic-based) organizations with the intent of stimulating potential patients to action.  Potential patients are those who have symptoms that could be fibroid related.  Desired actions include seeking a medical evaluation from either a gynecologist or interventional radiologist for fibroid-related symptoms.

·          Bachelors degree (Sales/Marketing or related field preferred).

·          Must have allied health experience.

·          3-5 years sales/marketing experience required (Experience in medical device sales and marketing preferred).

·          Must show ability to operate independently, effectively and remotely from home office.

·          Must show strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

·          Must be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of direct-to-patient and direct-to-physician marketing.

·          Sales and/or marketing required (medical procedure marketing preferred).

·          Must show strong evidence of self-motivation.

·          Must show ability to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities simultaneously

·          Ability to manage projects to successful completion

·          Must be willing to travel; (50-70%) including nights and weekends

·          Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Adobe)
