ABIOMED is seeking an experienced, hands on, Senior Electronics Engineer to be responsible for supporting and improving released products. This will included, and is not limited to, investigating internal and external failures to the component level, performing a root cause analysis, proposing and executing the corrective action.  This may include, hardware design, detailed circuit design, software integration, verification plans, and documentation on a variety of medical devices.

 
Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, or be part of a team, in the ongoing improvement of electronic medical devices.
  • Trouble shoot, and perform detailed root cause analysis on electro mechanical medical devices.
  • Redesign circuitry to improve product quality.
  • Perform detailed design reviews of proposed improvements.
  • Assist product transfer from product development to manufacturing.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing engineers and technicians.
  • Work with and coordinate activities with mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineering as required.
  • Assist department heads and program managers in resource planning.
  • Provide status updates to Program Managers as required
  • Identify and effectively manage critical issues
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians

Requirements:

·         BS or advanced degree in electronic engineering.

·         Minimum of 5 years experience in Product Development

·         Minimum of 3 years experience in Medical Device Product Development

·         Electromechanical design experience

·         Hands-on electrical circuit design experience of analog, digital, and mixed signal systems

·         Experience in systems design, allocation of requirements, and analyses (system, subsystem, and component modeling)

·         Experience interfacing with external firms and suppliers (design and contract manufacturers)

·         Fluent with electrical design software tools (Orcad schematic capture and PCB layout) (PCB Layout a plus)

·         Must be able to communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively, and frequently (oral and/or written) within program team and throughout the company

·         Possess a working knowledge of FDA's Quality System Regulation (QSR) and practical application through design control, SOP's, verification, and validation testing a plus

·         Project lead experience a plus

·         Familiarity with medical device standards and CE mark requirements for international use a plus

·         Six Sigma and Design for Six Sigma experience a plus
